Three UNIQUE Weight Loss Tips
Your mind plays a powerful role in your overall weight loss success.
Doing things like thinking yourself thin, and telling yourself you’re going to lose weight may be very powerful motivators that may jump you TWO or THREE steps forward on your personal weight loss journey.
Here are three of the most UNIQUE, mind-blowing weight loss tips:
1. Say “Don’t” Instead of “Can’t”
If you are a person who says, “No, I CAN’T have that,” then you may be setting yourself up for failure.
Words that hold negative feelings – like the word can’t – may make you crave the food even more.
The simple fact is: negative words may destroy healthy intentions by railroading your motivation, leading you to indulge in unhealthy food choices.
In fact, studies have shown that, saying the word don’t as opposed to can’t, may strengthen your willpower and enable you to lose more weight.
Words that carry more positive – instead of negative – connotations may keep you on track, enabling you to make healthier choices, and possibly stimulating your internal motivation to keep going toward your goals of weight loss.
2. Avert Your Stare
Have you ever seen a fast food commercial, or a junk food commercial and all of a sudden craved the food you just saw?
This happens to the best of us, and can easily lead you astray from your weight loss plan.
Instead of watching or looking at the unhealthy food – avert your stare or get up and find something healthy to look at!
Seeing unhealthy food triggers an area of your brain that controls hunger and external rewards.
When you see unhealthy foods, you want that food and may not stop until your eat that particular food.
So next time a junk food commercial appears on TV or is in your favorite magazine, avert your stare or find something healthy to look at!
3. The RIGHT Drink when Eating
Studies show that what you DRINK when you sit down to eat, may also lead to either making unhealthy or healthy food choices.
People who drank soda with a meal usually overate, turned to pizza, fries, or some other high-calorie, high-fat food.
And for those who choose water, well, they were more apt to choose veggies and other low-calorie, lower-fat options.
Take home message here: drink water with meals, it may help you choose better, healthier foods!
